Life Models Society News

News | Workshops | Also within this site

logoThe Society was formed in 1989 to provide a means for life models to get to know each other, and as a support group to standardise rates of pay and improve our working conditions.  Although we do not have the resources to act as a booking agency, we publish a list of available artists' models which is sent to all our subscribers, and updated several times a year.  This is often the start that a new models needs to get regular work as a life model. LMS members are known for their high standard of professionalism. We run regular workshops where aspiring models can try out nude modelling in a relaxed setting with experienced models and some selected artists to help with advice and suggestions.

It is a condition of the Society that ALL applicants for membership should attend a workshop, at which they will be assessed on criteria which include professional conduct and attitude.  This also gives them an opportunity to decide whether working as a nude model is what they really want to do. Models who have already had considerable experience tell us they thoroughly enjoyed the workshop they attended; for many it was the first chance they had ever had to compare notes with other models and talk about their work. The society is a non incorporated entity with an elected committee of seven. All paid members of the LMS have the right to vote in an election and to attend the AGM as well as other social events conducted by the LMS.

In this website are contributions from LMS members and the contact details for the LMS.

Models Drawing Models/Salons

After every workshop the LMS has what is called the Models Drawing Models (MDM) this free to all members and is a great opportunity to meet other models and get advice from experienced. These MDMs are often in conjunction with other helpful workshops such as Photography and belly dancing etc.

The LMS conducts Salons in the school holidays in which artists get the chance to draw some of the best LMS models and some of the best of the newest LMS models. The salons go for Five full days and artists have the opportunity for long and short poses.

Upcoming Workshops

News | Workshops | Also within this site

These are conducted early in the school holidays four times a year. The potential models are tutored by very experienced Life models that will show them through various poses; explaining what to expect at a modelling session for artists. The workshops are very good way to develop confidence in ones physicality and to get all the good oil on what to do in front of your audience (usually very grateful artists). All the good bad and the slightly awkward issues are covered and will conclude with potential models ready to go out and get work within the art world. Often new models are asked to work in the LMS sa invited to join the LMS.

The next workshop will be on sunday the 21st September, 2008.
The next LMS Salon will be from Saturday 5th July to Wednesday 9th of July
at the Princes Hill Community Center
